The Household Cavalry Museum is located in former stables at Horse Guards, the iconic building and major London landmark designed by William Kent and built in 1753. As the official entrance to the Royal Residences, the building is guarded round the clock by the Queen’s Life Guard (Household Cavalry) as it has been for over 350 years. The Museum consists of three areas. The reception area has the original carefully restored flooring of the 1750s and the middle area, the stables gallery, features Victorian horse stalls, a large glazed partition through which the activities in the working stables of the Queen’s Life Guard can be viewed and exhibitions of horse furniture. The area in which receptions and dinners and other functions take place is the main gallery with its magnificent stone vaulting.

As one would expect showcases with striking exhibits illustrating the 350 year old history of the regiment with uniforms, weapons and other intriguing artefacts, border the available dining and reception areas providing fascinating talking points and adding to the enjoyment of the occasion. As night descends outside the atmosphere in the gallery is enhanced by the richness of bold military colours, silver and gold objects and glistening weaponry and cuirasses.

This beautiful and inspiring venue is suitable for those seeking an unusual, historic and uniquely British ambience, which is centrally located in an iconic part of London. Entrance to the Museum is on Horse Guards Parade, which together with the Horse Guards building provides an extremely impressive and imposing access point. Instantly recognizable to a domestic and indeed international audience, since it is the site for so many major national events most notably the Queen’s Birthday Parade, this venue has a great deal to offer those looking for something different with the cachet of Royal connection, pageantry and tradition, which will delight, impress and be long remembered.
